i have had a very good weekend. i ran into ashley in the hubbard caf yesterday while eating my (yummy!) chicken fajita. then mike called and announced that he and amy had arrived at MSU. mike came over and we lounged around my room for a bit. then we went to pick up matt, jamie, and amber at case hall. we went out for chinese food on grand river. i was mad that i couldn’t get chicken fried rice with my meal, but jamie & amber gave me their leftovers.

then we were off to the jimmy eat world concert! we parked mike’s truck by south hubbard, then walked over to the wharton center. this black car was pulling out of their huge lot as we were walking in. the driver rolled down his window and said, “hey, it got cancelled.” i was just about to exclaim, “no freaking way!” when he said, “just kidding, but it’s at the aud, not the wharton center.” so the five of us had to walk BACK to mike’s truck in order to drive over to the university auditorium. fun stuff. anyway, we missed the opening band, but sean assured us that they sucked anyway. we did see paris texas, which turned out to be an alright band. i was a little disappointed in JEW’s performance; i thought they would be WAY better live, but oh well.

after the show, a group of us headed over to eric scheffler’s dorm in wonders (or was it wilson? i can’t remember). we (mike, kelly, rachel, amy, eric, erica, nicole, matt, and me) listened to music, chatted, and drank a lot of poor eric’s pop supply. i found out some things i didn’t really need to know. we finally left eric’s after 2am. amy came over to hubbard to use my bathroom and the bitchy people at the front door wouldn’t let me check all four of us in. bah. then mike and i went with amy, rachel, and kelly back to brody to see them into their armstrong quad. their space is pretty cool, if i do say so myself.

by the time i finally got back to hubbard it was 3:30am or so. i was dead tired. but i got to sleep into 11am, so it’s all good.

mike informed me that my bathroom smells like urinal cake. he immediately located said urinal cake and disposed of it in the trashcan. my roommate, jessie, has big plans for our room. she wants to hang fabric up over the window and doorway. she also has this rockin’ idea to build a window seat out of our HUGE windowsill. we are also DEFINITELY getting carpet and still contemplating a loft. we are going to have one of the most kickin’ rooms on campus after we are through.

right now i’m at home, chillin’ with the fam. i met my uncle ken’s girlfriend, phyllis. like kathy said, she is “really normal”. everyone had heard about my previous roommate (kateri/theodora) horror stories.

MOM: why did you let someone who was 200 pounds sleep on the top bunk?!
ME: i was there first, so i just took the bottom bed! i didn’t know how big she was…
DAD: i can see the headline now … ‘honors college student killed when native american fell from above’.
