so i’m an alternate in the SMB, right? and i know that every to the rear goes to the LEFT unless otherwise specified. well, the guy on my left obviously didn’t realize that today. and he is in the block. yes, this is the same kid who was yelling at me yesterday to take bigger steps. yes, this is the same punk freshman who thinks he can tell everyone what to do just because he was a drum major in high school. pffft. drum majors. what do they know? OBVIOUSLY NOT A LOT WHEN YOU CAN’T EVEN TURN THE CORRECT WAY! god DAMN.
so this kid turns to the right, i turn to the left, and CLANG! we’ve got metal on metal as our trumpets collide, consequently bashing each of us in the face with our own horn. this was no small collision, either … it’s not like it was a gradual four-count turn where we could have realized someone was screwing up. it was a to the rear while high stepping! no room for error here when we have TWO STEP SPACING. he starts bleeding all over the place and at first i felt kinda bad … until i realized that i wasn’t in the wrong and he was STILL blaming the whole thing on me.
i wouldn’t care so much if it wasn’t my LIPS. way to be a horn player now, kristen. i can play like G and A in the middle of the staff and anything higher or lower makes my lips vibrate in such a way that it hurts too bad. i wanted to cry afterwards when i realized i couldn’t play. GRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!
my pictures do not do justice to the lovely dark violet color my lip is turning. i am gonna have one MEGA fat lip tomorrow. kinda ironic that dave peters (my squad leader) got nailed in the face today as well.

eeeeeeek! that sucks. but on the bright side, i saw you marching today. i was on the brody/hubbard bus, and we drove by dem field and i saw you! you looked beautiful :-) that was probably before the lip incident, though. i hope your lip gets better super fast!
