This weekend I auditioned for the Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps for the second time. My first time was for the 2006 season, and I did not get asked back. I did, however, find a great niche for myself at the Glassmen. I had an amazing summer in 2006, made so many friends, improved my trumpet-playing skills, and just had a blast in general. 2007 was a different story. I didn’t have very much fun and I spent the majority of the summer being constantly annoyed: on the field, on the bus, in the locker room, on free days, all the time.
The first time I auditioned for PR, I had only been playing trumpet for one year. I had 2 college marching band seasons under my belt and that was it. I wasn’t the strongest player but I certainly wasn’t terrible. I received a I on my visual audition and a II on my music audition. I did not get asked back to the December camp.
….but this time I did!!!!
Oh the excitement. I can’t wait to do the drum corps thing one last time!

Hi! I know you posted this a while ago, but I’m planning on auditioning for PR in 2013 and I was googling a little and your post came up. I was wondering if I could have some tips on how best to prepare myself for the audition process. Send me an email if you find the time, thanks so much :)
Emailed you this morning! Good luck! :)
Thanks! :)
