First and foremost, I have a dog. His name is Nigel (yes, I changed the original spelling because it was weird, but I do like the name so I’m keeping it). He is a Pomeranian/Cairn Terrier mix and is pretty much the cutest thing ever. He knows how to stay, sit, and speak (sometimes). He’s only had a few accidents in the house but other than that he is really chill.
Secondly, the interview with Google went very well. I felt so grown up flying out to San Francisco, renting a car, and staying in a hotel all alone. I drove a Hyundai Elantra (which I hated) and successfully managed to find a shopping mall, a sushi restaurant, and a P.F. Chang’s. For the record, dining out by yourself is boring and expensive. I would highly advise against it.
Google’s HQ itself was pretty awesome. Tons of snacks and drinks everywhere — and the cafeteria in the building where I interviewed was also pretty impressive. I thought my 3 one-on-one interviews went pretty well, and my presentation went okay but wasn’t as perfect as I would have liked. I ate at In’N'Out Burger before driving back to the San Francisco airport to take the red eye home. Google called less than 24 hours to inform me that they were looking for “more senior” candidates for the Multimedia Specialist position. Sad day.
And lastly, I just moved to West Lafayette, Indiana on Tuesday (four days ago). I’m staying in an old Victorian house that has been divided into 4 apartments. I am living in one of the upstairs apartments with one other girl, Rachel. She hasn’t been home a whole lot since I moved in, but she and her boyfriend are both very nice. Tuesday evening they took me to eat at Triple XXX, a diner that has been here since the 1930s. It was Indiana’s first drive-thru. I had a Duane Purvis, which is a cheeseburger….with peanut butter. Somewhat surprisingly, it was delicious.
My room is gigantic and I don’t have much furniture to put in it, considering I drove here with what my Saturn could carry. I currently have a jankety desk, a bed, a tiny dresser (it’s actually a “lingerie chest”), an end table, and a set of 3 plastic drawers.
My boyfriend is better than yours because he stopped into town to visit me on his way to California. Corner arrived late Wednesday night and stayed to hang out with me on Thursday and Friday.
On Thursday we went to Goodwill and found some cool curtain rods for cheap, so now my room has two hot pink window treatments with bronze colored stars on the ends of the rods. We ventured out for sushi at Nakama for dinner (it was just okay and included some credit card mishaps). Then Corner and I visited Geoff in his summer place at College Station. We borrowed 2 martini glasses and came home to drink a variation on P.F. Chang’s bomb pop martini and watch South Park.
Friday we successfully repacked Corner’s car and fixed the latch on my bedroom door, which used to not close correctly, but my boyfriend is amazing and the latch now works! We also went to see Prince Caspian. In the middle of the movie, the screen suddenly went black and the lights came on. A lady walked in and informed us that a tornado had been spotted near Lafayette. They would continue showing the movie, but just “wanted to let us know in case anyone wanted to head home.” So basically there was a crazy storm that knocked out power at my house for a bit. Luckily, Corner is a bit of a packrat and had a kerosene lantern (for camping) in his car. By the time he got it lit, the power was back on.
Corner left about 2 hours ago and now I’m a bit bored and lonely. I need to locate a UPS store so I can drop off 3 packages that Corner decided to ship instead of taking with him in the car.

I miss you!! Pick a weekend for me and maybe somebody else to come visit you. Lance maybe? haha. We will go to a Sonics.
I miss my puppy too. So if I come to stay don’t be surprised if he ends up missing at the end of the trip.
