I guess when it rains, it pours.

So a lot has been going on since I last spent some quality time with my blog. Well, I’ve been working on tweaking a new layout but haven’t sat down to write an entry in awhile.

First, I got a temp job through Aquent with Stanford Hospital & Clinics Communications office.

My first day of work (Monday) was ridiculous: I left the RV at 7am, only to stop 5 minutes later because my car’s oil light was on (I KNEW I should have gotten an oil change!). So I had to stop at the gas station and buy a quart of oil. Had to wait in line, spilled oil on my dress pants because I was in a hurry, etc. THEN I took the wrong exit and ended up at Stanford’s stadium. I thought I was being smart by following signs to the “Stanford Hospital.” That didn’t work out so well, since the hospital isn’t anywhere near the offices.

After all was said and done, I ended up being 20 minutes late. I was forgiven, but I still felt pretty lousy about it.

Besides the somewhat awful commute, it’s been great. I am responsible for maintaining stanfordhospital.com as well as an internal site for the organization. I got a cool badge that also acts as an access card for the building.

Then, on Tuesday afternoon I got a job offer from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. I interviewed there last week for the New Media Development Specialist position.

I guess college prepared me to get a job after all. Now, to find a place to live (that DOESN’T have wheels)!

So basically Friday will be my last day at Stanford and I will be starting the job down in Monterey on November 3.

In other news, Corner and I went down to Carmel State Beach this past weekend. It is an off-leash beach, so we brought Nigel and he got to run around and meet other dogs while the 3 of us explored the (GORGEOUS!) white sands of the beach. He was so pooped he slept the rest of the day.

I am SO GLAD I got that dog, I have definitely taken a liking to him. :) He has been doing really well as far as not having accidents in the house and not barking at everything that moves. Now if only his haircuts weren’t so expensive…

Speaking of the pup, Nigel is actually going to the vet on Friday because he needs a Bordetella shot and he has been yelping a bit when we try to pick him up. Cross your fingers that he is okay and just pulled a muscle or something!
